OMHOF to host Muskogee’s Wild Card Band Benefit for the Merle Haggard Plaza

Muskogee, Okla. – The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame will host Muskogee’s Wild Card Band Thursday, January 26th at 7 pm in the Frisco Depot, 401 S. 3rd in Muskogee.

Started in the late 1990’s, the original band consisted of Eddie Lienhart, Johnny Winkle, Lee Norfleet and legendary Tulsa musician Mike Bruce. Originally thrown together as a last minute wedding reception group, the band (minus Mike), went on to perform at various functions, clubs, and events. Winners of the Battle of the Bands contest organized by the late D.C. Minner and his wife Selby, the band won over an extremely talented field of well-known musicians, including Flash Terry and the Uptown Horns, and Calvin Youngblood and his band Triple Mass. The eventual addition of saxophonist/electronic wind instrumentalist David Freeland, allowed the band to further expand our genres of music to perform.
Band members have changed over the last few years and in 2001, bassist Bill Morgan retired from another local band, joined Wild Card and has been holding down the bassline ever since. Wild Card has performed for the Oklahoma State legislature, the Office of then Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin, and then Governor of Oklahoma Frank Keating. They’ve been voted best local area band by the reader’s poll of the Muskogee Daily Phoenix and were listed among the top 10 of the Best Oklahoma Bands by The Current. They’ve also done shows on truck trailers, floating pontoons, and Yachts, as well as played numerous parties, wedding receptions, and birthdays. We were honored to perform at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, and have performed several shows there since.
The band is: Eddie Lienhart – Lead and Backing Vocals/Guitars/Keyboards and Harmonica; Bill Morgan – Lead and Backing Vocals/Bass Guitar; Johnny Winkle – Lead and Backing Vocals/Drums and Percussion.

Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7 pm. Admission is $5 at the door and
All proceeds benefit the Merle Haggard Plaza!
